A
Tough Schedule Makes for a Tough Weekend in Lakeside
The Zephyrs faced all of the top teams early on in
the Presidents Day Challenge last weekend, and stayed close to each
and every one of them. After the first 3 pool play games, the Zephyrs
had only given up 13 total runs...to the top teams in the tournament.
This play put them top seed in the National League tournament, but
they faced a suddenly hot team in the semi-finals. So there is still
the finals of the MLK tournament, then some time off as everyone
enjoys the Little League season.
Matthew
Breaks Collar Bone, on DL
The Zephyrs wish Matthew a speedy recovery as he
recovers from the on-field injury of his collar bone at practice
last night, 1/26. He went to the emergency room after practice and
currently has his arm immobilized. He will be out for about 2 months
with this injury. All certainly wish him the best during his recovery.
Zephyrs
Qualify for the Division I Bracket in the Postponed MLK Tournament
The Zephyrs went 2-2 in qualifying games, including
a 10-0 shutout on Sunday, to advance to the Division I bracket which
was scheduled to be played on Monday. The threat of rain ended up
postponing Monday's games, which will be played in their entirety
at a TBA future date. The weekend's games bring the Zephyrs overall
tournament record to 3-5.
Zephyrs
Make Their First Tournament Appearance in the New Years Classic
The Zephyrs learned the meaning of the word "travel"
in "travel ball" by hitting the road for the first time
to participate in the New Years Classic in West Covina. In the end
the Zephyrs gave a good fight and lost in the semi-finals to the
eventual bracket champions. More details to follow.

in the New Years Classic in West Covina.
A
Weekend of Games Tests the Zephyrs
The Zephyrs played their first doubleheader on 12/19
and split with the Eastlake Bears. This was following a night game
with the 4S Eagles, and finished up a 3 games in less than 24 hours
run. When all was said and done, the Zephyrs improved to 4-1 in
non-tournament play.
The Zephyrs learned alot about themselves and are gearing up for
their first tournament appearance in the New Years Classic in West
Covina.
Another
Strong Scrimmage for the Zephyrs
Another strong showing on 12/12. Lots of hits, but
also lots of rain. The Zephyrs are playing together and gaining
confidence. The game was called in the 5th inning when the rains
became too much to continue to play through.
Zephyrs
Play Strong in First Scrimmage
A very impressive showing on 12/5. 6 players had
hits, 4 of which were RBI's. 2 players had multiple hits. 7 players
scored at least once. And the best part was that every player either
got a hit, an RBI or a run scored in the game. The Zephyrs played
as a team and everyone contributed for 7 innings solid. The pitching
was also very good. All 6 pitchers hung a zero on the board.
Best
Wishes to Gannon, on DL
Gannon will be out for some time as he recovers from
a broken thumb. He had surgery on his thumb on 12/2, and all the
Zephyr families wish him a speedy recovery.
